PowerSave Schools for Districts

The PowerSave Schools program has worked in partnership with over 21 districts including Los Angeles Unified School District, West Contra Costa, Knox County, Pomona Unified, Moreno Valley, and El Monte. Funded by utility providers, the program is offered free of charge to school districts within our funders’ territories. The PowerSave program saves districts thousands of dollars by reducing the cost of their energy bill through student-led no-cost efficiency measures.  Energy savings are measured through a third-party energy tracker, and shared with students and staff to show them the effectiveness of their efforts. Districts are encouraged share the savings with the schools, to help incentivize energy-saving behaviors.

The PowerSave Schools program provides grade-specific curriculum for K-12 students, correlated to Common Core, Next Generation Science, and state learning standards (where applicable).  PowerSaveSchools's connection to the PowerSave Campus program helps form a gateway to secondary education. The PowerSave Campus program is driven by students at 16 Colleges and Universities throughout California and implements a range of programs including energy audits and assessments, residential and laboratory energy competitions, intern-led and faculty sponsored academic courses, green career fairs, and energy efficiency technology retrofits.

Interested districts can also work directly with the Alliance
to bring the educational and financial benefits of the program to their schools and students.
